Discover the Story Behind Our Custom Tennis Padding
Drawing on more than 25 years of professional coaching experience across all levels of the game, the founder of Court Safe identified a serious yet often overlooked safety hazard on tennis courts: exposed metal net posts. Extensive research found that collisions with these posts occur far more frequently than many realise. In most cases, injured players blame themselves, unaware that the absence of protective padding is a significant contributing factor.
The risk is particularly high in fast-paced and highly populated environments such as junior holiday camps, drills such as king of the court, cardio tennis sessions, slippery court surfaces and where players are constantly moving at speed chasing down drop shot or changing ends of the court. The danger gained worldwide attention in 2004 when James Blake, a former U.S. No. 1, suffered a broken neck after colliding with an unpadded net post during a practice session.
Court Safe was created to address this preventable risk and help make tennis courts safer for players of all ages and abilities.
While sports such as rugby, netball, and volleyball have long recognised protective padding as a standard safety requirement, tennis has historically left its rigid metal net posts exposed. Court Safe was founded to address this longstanding gap in player protection.
Drawing on decades of court-side experience, we set out to create a purpose-built solution for tennis. Conventional pads are poorly suited to the unique shape and design of tennis net posts, often compromising both effectiveness and appearance. Through years of research, material testing, and design refinement, we developed and patented a custom padding system engineered specifically for the demands of the modern tennis court.
The result is a professional, effective, and visually appealing safety solution that helps protect players, reduce liability risks, and provide peace of mind for clubs, coaches, schools, and parents alike.

"While sprinting for a drop shot, I lost my orientation and crashed into the metal post, severely damaging my hip. I was forced to quit the match. I'm now hesitant during every point."
Dave
"I was playing on a damp court when I skidded and sliced my hand on the net post's metal base flap. I ended up in the ER with stitches and was unable to play for six months."
Everton
"As a junior tournament director, I frequently see young players collide with net posts. These avoidable accidents almost always force the players to withdraw from the event."

Player Testimonials
At my public club Highbury Fields, a player collided head-on with an unshielded net post, incurring a broken neck and resulting in life-altering total paralysis.
Phil
"During an intensive cardio tennis session, I became fatigued and collided with the net post while switching ends. I fractured my hip, missed weeks of work, and couldn't play for half a year."
Jo
"I tripped while chasing a shot and fell head-first into the adjacent court's post. I was severely dazed with a large hematoma, suffering from a serious concussion scare."
Uri
"During a social doubles match, I lunged for a short ball, slipped, and hit the post with my shoulder. It narrowly missed my head, but the injury required a two-month recovery period."
John
"During a private coaching session, I ran for a drop shot and slammed my hip into the post. The pain was excruciating." Ruben
The Integral Skin Advantage
Through years of rigorous material analysis and field testing, Court Safe has pushed beyond the limitations of basic court safety equipment. Our initial investigations focused on the standard sponge and stitched PVC covers commonly seen in other sports, yet we quickly discovered significant flaws in their application for tennis. These traditional models fail to withstand the high-traffic demands of club footfall and environment exposer, where the fabric often stretches, wrinkles, and undergoes rapid aesthetic and structural decay.
Driven by the need for a more resilient solution, we strategically pivoted to Integral Skin Foam—a cutting-edge, high-performance material widely utilized in the demanding automotive, medical, and high-end fitness sectors. This transition ensures that our safety padding moves beyond the limitations of standard sponge materials. Integral Skin Foam provides a durable, non-porous outer layer and a dense supportive core that won't degrade under heavy sun exposure or intense court use.
